There Goes the Rain
The North Island has had a lot of rain over the last 12 or so hours, but still not enough to balance out the lack of rain earlier this year over summer.
And the South Island has been mainly clear. And anyone looking at the South Island can clearly see that the automated map overlay didn’t do a great job this time, although further north there is a really good match with the swirling cloud formation.

There are two fronts with rain out the the west of New Zealand, with one looking like it will miss the bottom of the South Island, but the second one should be arriving mid-week. But it is hard to tell at this time what the impact will be. We only have to look back a week and see what was an intense rain band pretty much vanish as it crossed the Tasman Sea.
