Weather Heading This Way
The NOAA 18 combined pass image from this morning shows an interesting weather system heading to New Zealand and it is large enough to affect the weather over the whole country, so well over 1,500km across!
Whilst there isn’t a significant amount of precipitation being shown on this combined pass, clearly there is the potential for it to develop into heavy rain as it tracks over the North Island.

At the time of writing this post, there is only a single pass from this evening, which unfortunately is mainly to the east of New Zealand, so we can see where there is an area of rain which will be impacting the area between Hamilton down the west coast towards New Plymouth.
Later passes this evening and tomorrow morning should show how this front develops.
