GOES 14

GOES 14 was launched in 2009 as an orbital spare satellite and it is kept in reserve in case of issues with any of the other GOES satellites and it is activated on a periodic basis for testing, which is normally around the northern hemisphere hurricane season.

It has taken over from GOES 13 on a short term basis when GOES 13 had some technical issues.
