These are the latest images from the GOES 16 weather satellite, downloaded via the GOES 17 weather satellite once an hour.

Clean IR Longwave Band

Less sensitive to atmospheric moisture than the other IR channels. As a result brightness temperatures are usually warmer than traditional IR as less radiation is absorbed by water vapor and re-emitted at higher altitudes.

Enhanced Clean IR Longwave Band

An enhanced version of the clean IR longwave band image to highlight areas of precipitation.

Rare Images

On a rare basis, additional GOES 16 images get shared via GOES 18, with the ones below being the last ones captured. The full disc images are missing the info overlay as they were never expected to be shared, so my software wasn’t configured to add it!
